Lancer ES - Turbo
Frank Boogie, New Jersey
This was not your typical install. Unfortunately this kit was bought used and there were quite a few parts missing. So if you decide to buy a used turbo kit, make sure you get everything. These turbo kits are not just a simple bolt on affair.
Here is the turbo already bolted together as an assembly. You will want to remove the exhaust manifold and attach that also. If you don't, you will be kicking yourself in the ass later.
You will need to remove the radiator and radiator fans. It's pretty simple to remove.
Here is where you want to attach the oil feed for the turbo. You will need an allen key to remove the bolt. Yes, that is the oil filter below.
Here is oil feed line with oil pressure sending unit attached. It looks close to the crank pulley in this pic but it is not. Use an elbow fitting to make it point in this direction.
This is where you need to be carefull. You have to locate where the oil return line is going to be tapped into the oil pan. The spot we chose worked out fine, but you may want to move it to the right for a little more clearance. If your not sure how to do this step, get help from someone who knows what they are doing. Making the hole too big will make for a bad day.
We installed new injectors also. You have to make sure the rubber grommits are fully seated or they will leak. Someone lost my flashlight and my daughter is pissed  about me using hers! LOL!!
We removed the coolant lines from the throttle body. One coolant line comes from the throttle body and connects to the motor. Where it connects to the motor, that is where your coolant feed is to be connected
The other coolant line from the throttle body connects to this line. This is where you want to connect the coolant return line. If you want to keep your EGR lines hooked up to the throttle body, you can tee into these same lines.
Diconnect the exhaust.
We bolted up the turbo assembly and started to line up where the I/C pipes go. You could have problems with this if your missing any pipes or couplers.
Here is a shot of everything buttoned up.
Whenever you buy any type of kit and it comes pre-assembled, NEVER ASSUME that the bolts are tight. The last thing you will want to do is have to tighten all the bolts once the kit is already installed.
